Smart Water Management Solutions

Solution Introduction

Advantech’s intelligent water management solutions integrate machine-to-intelligence (M2I) technology, the synthesis of specialized knowledge of water equipment and water treatment technology, and the industrial IoT cloud platform WISE-PaaS to provide four cloud-based remote device solution packages covering the management of water pumps, blowers, pump stations, and bio-storage applications.

Wastewater treatment involves processes and equipment units that handle screening, pumping, aeration, sedimentation, filtration, neutralization, chlorination, dewatering, sludge decomposition, and wastewater discharge. All require an automated monitoring system to ensure that each and every piece of equipment is functioning properly and to protect workers from exposure to contaminants, pathogens, or toxic chemicals as much as possible. Advantech has long been a key supplier of data acquisition modules and other products needed to build intelligent SCADA systems in many wastewater treatment projects and other countries around the world, with the latest products supporting Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture (OPC UA) that can help reduce the cost of engineering and maintaining IoT networks, while enhancing data security from the field to the cloud.

Challenges and Solutions for Implementation and Management

Real-time wastewater monitoring

Challenge: Current water facility and equipment monitoring is manually inspected in a time-consuming, monotonous process.

Solution: Remote real-time monitoring of equipment, facilities and sites ensures fast response times, improved operations and lower maintenance

Water Supply and Resources

Challenge: Water shortages and wastewater management can cause serious water leakage and limit water use.

Solution: advanced IIoT technology enables smart water management of equipment, facilities and field locations to maintain sustainable water supplies and resources.

Processing efficiency

Challenge: When treatment plants are not operating efficiently, it can be extremely costly. Inefficient equipment and systems can lead to higher operating costs and lower efficiency.

Solution: IoT technology helps optimize the operation and management of equipment and facilities, thereby improving plant efficiency.

Data integration and management

Challenge: Errors often occur during data collection and integration, leading to inaccurate data analysis and management.

Solution: This problem can be solved by converting data in real time through remote environmental monitoring with cloud-enabled platforms to improve operations and management.
